I’ve not yet said anything on the Productivity Commission’s recommendations last week to abolish Parallel Importation Restrictions on books.
Now I will: it’s complete and utter bullshit and I believe it will effectively destroy the local publishing industry and forever weaken the position of Australian authors.
My day job is reasonably influential, and has given me some good contacts in media and political circles. You can be damn sure that I will call in every conceivable favour to help end this travesty before it gains political traction.
