#449

It’s been several months since my last update, but after an extended period of New Zealand-ladened hibernation, I’m slowly dipping my toe back into the world of writing. As a first step, you’ll notice the website has had a fresh paint job? What do you reckon?

Coinciding with the web revamp is the news that my collection, The Abandonment of Grace and Everything After, will soon be published. More on that soon…

Also, Amazon informs me that it has just released another metric that will feed the neuroses of writers the world over: author rankings!

I’ve had a good run on Amazon with my ebooks, ever since I announced my ‘Grand Experiment’ at the beginning of 2011. I’ve been offline for much of that time (and produced a book in the meantime to help a friend, which quickly became a bestseller), but I’ve had more than 20,000 of my ebooks sold since my experiment began. No social media required. My conclusion? Ebooks are no longer an experiment, they a vital and necessary aspect of publishing. It’s Darwinian – adapt or perish.

Back to the rankings, which were released today … on October 4, I was ranked #449 in horror on Amazon. Top 500 in the world; not a bad effort! I also hit #1711 on the fantasy list. Like authors the world over, I’ll try not to sweat these kind of rankings, but they’re a temptation …

If you’re not familiar with my work and want to find out more, the following books are available for free right now:

And these books can be borrowed for free by Amazon Prime users:

… and several more of my books can be purchased for between $0.99 and $4.99.

Enjoy your reading!
